THE HOLIDAY FARM FIRE

01.

On Sept. 7th, 2020…

The Holiday Farm Fire blazed through the McKenzie River Valley, resulting in 100% total loss of the church facilities.

This included the chapel, the pastor’s house, and the new ministry house. Twenty of our families also lost their homes—70%of our congregation.

Over 527 other homes and structures in the McKenzie Valley were also destroyed, and the beloved natural beauty of the region would never be the same again.

02.

The Aftermath

Although we mourned our losses, ministry never stopped. In response to the fire, our families and church network came together to provide hope to others who were affected by the disaster.

We provided temporary long-term housing for six households and gave out 100+ pairs of boots, 15 generators, and many RV supplies. We also started an initiative to build and deliver 150 8’x8′ sheds to owners who lost their homes. Plus, countless acts of love and kindness abounded.

The Vision

When it comes to rebuilding after the fire, LWFF is currently involved in a discernment and partnership-building process. We know we want to provide venues and services that will support the overall well-being of the McKenzie River Valley area and its people. We believe what we arrive at also needs to be sustainable for the long-haul, thus the careful approach to partnership-building and laying a solid organizational foundation…before we pour any physical foundations.

We believe that God is calling us to be outward-focused and serve the social, economic, and spiritual needs of our community.

Currently, we’re using a 30’x60′ modular building for church purposes, construction planning, and community general use. Contact us if you’re interested in holding your meeting at our modular building or if you have any questions.

Community with others

As image-bearers of God, humanity was created to live in community.

The church is in its greatest expression of love when we live in close proximity with each other as a community that gathers around the person of Jesus.

Discipleship happens best in the context of relationships as we invite, invest, and inspire one another.

Celebrate Recovery

The purpose of the Celebrate Recovery ministry is to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the “8 Recovery Principles” and “The 12 Steps of Recovery”. This experience allows us to “be changed.” By working and applying these Biblical Principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly a stronger relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program, we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher-Power, Jesus Christ.
